The Ford Rescue X design proposal from Robert Engelmann is a tough vehicle designed for rescue operations in treacherous terrains. The futuristic search and rescue vehicle is designed to reduce time consumption in medical emergencies. The Ford Rescue X Concept is a study of a futuristic search and rescue vehicle designed for rough terrains that features a dedicated medical module and Computer Aided Surgery equipment. It was designed by German product design graduate Robert Engelmann.

The medical module floats above the main structure and protects the passenger like an egg. A display window shows the passenger's health conditions.

One of the seats has an integrated first aid pack that can be quickly released, while the rotating wheel arches on the concept allow it to move through snow covered/ icy terrains. The medical module has a system to allow remote Computer Aided Surgery (CAS). The concept has an electric drivetrain utilizing four suspension-mounted motors.

A backpack with first aid tools is integrated in the seat and can be quickly released. The integrated medical equipment also includes a computer tomograph and a CAS system (Computer Aided Surgery).

An all-new BMW Alpina B7 went on sale in North American dealerships in late spring 2010. The Alpina B7 is excited about the extra, extra strong version of the full-size sedan and the 7 Series will compete in the market with Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG.

Alpina is situated in the Bavarian town of Buchloe, some 50 miles southwest of the BMW headquarters in Munich. BMW Alpina has been making cars go faster since the 1960s, but while it is known and respected by the fans of the car, Alpina is not a known brand in the world at large. BMW decided that something other than the character of the M is required for the performance of ultra-Series 7, and luxury vehicles are defined by the generous interior space.

Alpina B7 upgrade starts with a more powerful version of the BMW 750i turbocharged 4.4-liter V8. He gained the piston with high performance and larger capacity intercooler to cool the air pumped by the turbocharger and allows further increase the turbo pressure. Results for B7 is 500 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That's 100 hp and 56 lb-ft more than the standard BMW 750i.

Six-speed automatic transmission that is suitable for more aggressive shift capability, with manual shift buttons behind the steering wheel an Alpina-specific. The B7 rides about an inch lower than the standard 7 Series, the springs are substantially more assertive. BMW Dynamic Control and an active suspension system damping Roll Stabilization and equipment, but anti-skid electronics appropriate to allow for more wheel slip.

Hand-stitched leather covers Lavalina dashboard, door panels, center console, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats and steering wheel. The doorsills are lit in blue Alpina. All B7s will be equipped with BMW's Head-Up Display, which projects a variety of information on the windshield, and a cluster-black LCD instrument panel.011 Alpina B7s first must reach a BMW dealer in the month of April 2010, with broader availability with the end of May. It's big, fast luxury sedan will retail at $ 122,875 for the standard wheelbase 7 Series, including destination fees. Geneva is one of the world's great auto shows, if for no other reason than it's the place where Italy's design houses and coachbuilders -carrozzerie- annually roll out their latest concept cars. This year, Aston Martin previewed the production version its voluptuous Vanquish (covered elsewhere in this issue). But that wasn't the only Aston on the show floor. The Aston Martin Twenty Twenty concept from 2001 was designed by Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro of ItalDesign.

The fully-functioning concept car was intended as a vision for a convertible Aston Martin sports car for the year 2020. Italdesign sprung this amazing car on the unsuspecting visitors to the 2001 Geneva Salon L'Auto. This startling car, based on an early production DB7 Vantage, has a body shape made of exposed extruded aluminium structural elements; body panels made from plastic and carbon fibre are fitted onto it. Thankfully Aston Martin’s current styling trend is headed in a completely different direction to the Twenty Twenty concept.
The brushed aluminium highlighting lines which adorn the Aston Martin Twenty Twenty are an original design feature. However their overuse (especially around the front) gives the concept an unusual, almost comical appearance from some angles. The grille surround almost looks like lipstick.

The Twenty Twenty is powered by front mounted, uprated version of the 6 litre V12 from the DB7 Vantage, said to produce 500bhp - visible through a grilled fairing on the bonnet. Initially it appears to be a strict 2 seater, although the rear bulkhead can be removed to provide seating for two children. The rear of the Aston Martin Twenty Twenty (from the doors back) is more appealing with more conservative use of bare aluminium. The soft top is stored in its own special housing that can be slotted into position between the roll-bar and the windscreen, 'Targa' fashion. Notice the fantastic door hinges - derived from the classic Aston wing vent, are both decorative and functional elements.

Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aston Martin previously co-operated in 1961, when Carrozzeria Bertone worked on the two-seater DB4GT Jet coupe prototype. And like the original 'Jet' car, the 2020 is destined to remain unique. Aston Martin are believed to have thought the 2020 'interesting', but no plans were ever made even for limited production. As the Twenty Twenty isn't an official Aston Martin design project, don't look for any sort of production version. What about the name? Simple: It's the term commonly used to describe perfect vision. And the Giugiaros clearly have good eyes.

In March 2004, I received an e-mail claiming the 2020 was for sale, but I have been unable to find any reference to this anywhere. But the car was seen for the first time in the UK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, June 2005.

Most recently winning Bentley, Mulsanne, debuted at Pebble Beach last summer and went into production this summer, check out the way construction and final assembly involving the 503 points that take up more than two hours hardly qualifies as a production car.

Like most of the exterior and interior trim many mesh grille is made from polished stainless steel with an all-out, and framed with a large LED light units combine several units. 2009 Japan Mazda Motor Corporation (HIROSHIMA) announced that it has built the first Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE vehicle with Norwegian specifications, developed specifically for participation in HyNor, Norway’s national hydrogen project. The first unit will take part in ceremonies marking the official opening of HyNor’s hydrogen filling stations.

The initial opening ceremony will be held in Oslo on May 11, 2009. The RX-8 Hydrogen RE will then undergo certification to meet local standards and will be used for maintenance staff training. Mazda plans to commence leasing of Norwegian specification RX-8 Hydrogen RE models in Norway in summer 2009.

The HyNor project aims to enable hydrogen vehicles to travel along a 580-kilometer stretch of highway by establishing a chain of hydrogen stations between Stavanger and Oslo in Norway.

2010 Jaguar XK-called all new, but in spirit and execution it looks familiar. And that's a good thing. Hard-edged sports car than the Jaguar XK has been more than a car, a beautiful fertile, well appointed grand tour. The new XK coupe and convertible have not changed it, but it seems a little faster, smoother, more efficient, and more handsome than before.

2010 Jaguar XKs will continue with six-speed ZF automatic transmission, which is widely used by builders of luxury cars for the operation fun and excellent performance. All will be equipped with steering-wheel levers to move the manual, although transmission in sports-oriented XKR will be set for faster, more aggressive shifts.

Jaguar claims 0-60-mph time of 4.6 seconds to 5.2 seconds for the XKR and XK Portfolio. Jaguar also predicts a slight increase in EPA mileage ratings for both cars.

The 2010 XKs will be equipped with an adaptive suspension system new Jaguar calls for Adaptive Dynamics. suspension was aimed at a better balance of sharp, precise handling with travel, smooth comfort by varying the rate at which the electronic shock absorbers to reduce road shocks, depending on conditions and driver demands. Jaguar's Adaptive Dynamics says the company has more computing power and much faster response time than previous CATS adaptive suspension system.

Both new and XK XKR Portfolio is expected in showrooms until June, but Jaguar dealers will gladly your order now. Both models will come standard with 19-inch wheels: The portfolio with all-season rubber and performance of the XKR with summer tires. Expected Pricing $83,000-$102,000.

BMW has proven that rear-wheel-drive c-segment size luxury works, with its 1 Series, Lincoln is turning next to the 2011 Ford Focus' platform for post-global warming luxury. To prepare us for a CAFE-friendly world, Lincoln rolled out the C concept (for c-segment, and so far, without an "MK" prefix) at Detroit. Looking much like a Renault with Lincoln's "flying wing" '41 Continental retro cue grille, the C is about the length of the '11 Focus, but about 2.75-inches wider for three-abreast seating via two flat benches. Ford designers cite the '39 Lincoln, '56 Continental II and '61 Continental as inspiration. But the a-pillar is curved much like a Renault Espace's, and the c-pillar ends in a Clio-esque bustle trunk. While there's no tumblehome, a deep shoulderline accents the profile.

The stainless steel-like top is actually aluminum with a metalized paint, and the gray interior wood trim is recycled driftwood veneer. The Lincoln C has more interior space than a '61 Continental, J Mays and Freeman Thomas proudly note. The engine, theoretically - Lincoln didn't open the hood -- is a planned 1.6-liter EcoBoost four with central direct injection, variable valve timing on both cams and an interesting stop/start system to shut down the engine for red lights and stop signs.

Restarts use a fraction of the starter energy required for a cold start by injecting and igniting fuel in the cylinder closest to top-dead-center on the compression stroke. The six-speed, twin-clutch "Powershift" transmission uses more efficient dry clutches (Audi DSG's wet clutches require an oil pump). It gains 9-percent better fuel economy than a conventional automatic transmission, Ford says. Including some key weight savings, Ford expects the EcoBoost-powered C would get about 25-percent better fuel economy than a similar car with a 2.0-liter.

Other interior features include no b-pillar (which Mays insists is approaching production viability, even if the "suicide door" feature that accompanies it is only for show), a hubless steering wheel rendered in Apple-computer white plastic, thin-seat technology for better interior room (another near-production feature), hand-drawn floral patterns laser-etched into the otherwise stark white leather seats, weight- and height-sensing power head restraints, and stereo speakers in the headliner, which surrounds a Lincoln-symbol glass sunroof.

North America design chief Peter Horbury says his favorite feature, though, is a device in the car's grille that recognizes other Lincoln Cs and automatically "winks" the left headlight, Mini Cooper-owner style.

Question is, can Lincoln build a c-segment car with so much appeal that owners "wink" or wave at others voluntarily? We may have to ask that question again when Lincoln markets a c-segment car, in as little as two or three years.
