Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - Movie Review

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - Movie Review

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the seventh and final of the Harry Potter novels written by British author J. K. Rowling. The book was released on 21 July 2007 by Bloomsbury Publishing in the United Kingdom, in the United States by Scholastic, and in Canada by Raincoast Books, ending the series that began in 1997 with the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The novel chronicles the events directly following Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2005), and the final confrontation between the wizards Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort.
Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in January 2007. Before its release, Bloomsbury reportedly spent GB£10 million to keep the book's contents safe before its release date. American pulisher Arthur Levine refused any copies of the novel to be released in advance for press review, although two reviews were submitted early. Shortly before release, photos of all 759 pages of the U.S. edition were leaked and transcribed, leading Scholastic to look for the source that had leaked it.
Released globally in 93 countries, Deathly Hallows broke sales records as the fastest-selling book ever. It sold 15 million copies in the first 24 hours following its release, including more than 11 million in the U.S. and UK alone. The previous record, 9 million in its first day, had been held by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The novel has also been translated into over 120 languages, including Ukrainian, Swedish, and Hindi.
Major themes in the novel are death and living in a corrupted society, and critics have compared them to Christian allegories. Generally well-received, the book won the 2008 Colorado Blue Spruce Book Award, and the American Library Association named it a "Best Book for Young Adults". Atwo-part film based on the book began showing in November 2010, when the first part was released; the second part is scheduled for July 2011.

Coke Studio embodies a musical fusion of exciting elements and diverse influences, ranging from traditional eastern, modern western and regionally inspired music. Bringing alive the magic of live recordings and performances, Coke Studio prides itself on providing a musical platform, which bridges barriers, celebrates diversity, encourages unity and instills a sense of Pakistani pride. Coke Studio is an inspired step by Coca-Cola for having created a platform where renowned as well as upcoming and less mainstream musicians from various genres can collaborate musically.

Now it has gone one, some would say logical, step further and invited talented Indian singer Rabbi Shergill into its fold. The singer who burst on to the scene six years ago with a very modern twist and sound to Bulleh Shah’s poetry with Bulla ki jaana mein kaun, flew to Pakistan on Saturday for about a week for what would be the first Indo-Pak collaboration by Coke Studio.

Without overtly saying much but, for example, by choosing and aggressively promoting Sufi music, getting together folk-style musician Arif Lohar with model and vocalist Meesha Shafi in the memorable Alif Allah, and having two sisters of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa descent — Zeb and Haniya — strum the guitar to Pashto tunes, the Karachi studio has become a symbol of the young and modern Pakistani and one that they are proud to talk about as an important modern cultural experiment.

Mrs Ayesha Zafar and Aamir are distant cousins Ali Zafar, the Pakistani pop star-turned-actor (Tere Bin Laden) is related to Aamir Khan? All of us are related with 6 degrees of separation. It holds true especially in case of Bollywood, which is one small happy family. But the B-Town connection of the boy from across the border was until now a well-kept secret.

Even Aamir Khan was not aware of this rishtedaar from Pakistan. Ali who is coming up with his third music album Jhoom explains, “My wife Ayesha is kind of remotely related to Aamir. I told this to Aamir when I met him recently. He was also surprised.”
The newbie elaborates on his ‘relative’ Aamir, “Ayesha’s father’s cousin’s mother and Aamir’s mother are cousins.” Ali’s wife met Khan when he visited her desh. She adds, “Aamir knows my father’s cousin. I met him when he came to Pakistan and I introduced myself.”

The Zafars were invited to the Imran-Avantika wedding and reception but they couldn’t make it both times since Ali’s brother-in-law was getting married around the same time.
It has been reported that Imran Khan and Ali Zafar who are acting together in will be seen next in Yash Raj Film’s My Brother’s Dulhan don’t see eye-to-eye.
Khan finds the newcomer brash and abrasive. Now that it is revealed that they are also related, one wonders if the cold war between them will come to an end. But let’s not forget there is something called sibling rivalry!
