Corvette c6
A more apt name was never applied than the moniker chosen for this SEMA-bound C6. The Outrageous C6 Corvette is a collaboration between Corvette aftermarket parts distributor Mid America Motorworks, its in-house brand of products and parts that goes by the name Performance Choice, Sony, and the designer of the vehicle, John Wargo of the Custom Shop. From what we gather, the outrageous project car was built to showcase the custom interior that uses Ostrich leather and Alcantara synthetic suede, two new products being offered by Performance Choice through MAM. But these companies know they'd get laughed out of Las Vegas if they showed up with a just a custom interior, so the Outrageous C6 lives up to its name by adding a Pro Charger supercharger and Corsa exhaust that kick the car's power output up to 650 hp, as well as 5,600 watts of Sony sound gear, a Le Mans wing and Lambo doors. The overall result is... interesting, and certainly outrageous. We could envision any number of NFL superstars proudly piloting this Vette to the stadium on any given Sunday, and it will surely fit in with the type of cars we expect to encounter at the SEMA show in a couple weeks.

Corvette zr1
With sales totaling just over 1000 units in Europe during 2006, the Corvette lacks traction for this market. With the likes of Maserati's, Aston Matin's, Porsche's, Audi RS's, Ferrari's, Mercedes AMG's, etc. painting the urban landscape in Europe, Corvette just doesn't evoke the same passion. In fact, it's quite a different reaction as demonstrated by Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson who took a helicopter gunship to the C6 Corvette last year. Why should that be? Perhaps it is a lack of credibility with American high-performance cars since there are only a handful of vehicles capable of mixing it up with their European and Japanese counterparts. Or maybe it's America's fascination with straight line performance? Whatever the reasons, Americans don't care. Their beloved Corvette is the culmination of motorsport excellence and 50 years of refinement and this latest pure-bred is the most anticipated and best Corvette yet.Due for arrival in summer of 2008 as a 2009 model, the Corvette ZR-1 represents the ultimate Corvette. With the main objective to produce a split-personality car that is domesticated for the road yet a fierce track car, the ZR-1 takes the road less traveled. With the motto, “there's no replacement for displacement”, American performance cars have always stayed true. However, instead of using an even bigger version of the 505hp 7.0-liter LS7 motor from the Z06, GM opted for the same 430hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine and supercharged it, increasing output to an awesome 620hp (462 kW) and 595 lb.-ft.of torque (807 Nm). The new supercharged engine, called LS9, makes this sixth generation Corvette the fastest and most powerful production car ever produced by General Motors. However, the ZR-1 is more than just a new powerful engine. The body gets littered with lots of weight-saving carbon fiber found in the hood with a raised, polycarbonate window – offering a view of the intercooler below it, carbon-fiber roof panel, roof bow, front fascia splitter and rocker moldings with clear-coated, exposed carbon-fiber weave. The widened fenders are also carbon fiber to accommodate the larger wheels. For the first time, carbon ceramic brake rotors with painted blue calipers and exclusive 19x10 (front) and 20x12-inch (rear) wheels are standard for the ZR-1 as well as automatically adjusting Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension.Performance figures have not been provided yet, however, GM acknowledges the ZR-1 will top 200 mph with a new 220 mph speedometer. Speculation puts a 0 – 60 mph time of 3.4 seconds and price is expected to come in at 100,000 USD.

Corvette z06
Five years ago, the sixth-generation Corvette Z06 stunned the sports car world. Powered by a 7.0 Liter V8 and sporting an aluminum frame plus the use of select carbon-fiber components, it offers an outstanding power-to-weight ratio. Now for 2011, Z06 models come standard with new, second-generation Goodyear® Eagle® F1 Supercar tires as well as new exhaust tuning. Magnetic Selective Ride Control (MSRC) is also available for the first time. But the bigger news is the NEW Z07 Performance Package (which includes MSRC) and the NEW CFZ Carbon Fiber Package culminating in the Z06 Carbon Limited Edition. mpressive brakes are necessary to stop a sports car capable of a test-track top speed of 198 mph. Z06 uses monoblock six-piston front calipers and four-piston rears. The extra-large 14-inch front rotors and 13.4-inch rears are vented and cross-drilled. Launch control is standard with the short-throw six-speed manual gearbox. It modulates engine rpm to lay the power down more smoothly while providing consistent acceleration times on the test track. Z06 is powered by a 7.0 Liter LS7 aluminum block V8 with an 11.0:1 compression ratio. It delivers an SAE-certified 505 hp at 6300 rpm and 470 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm. The engine employs lightweight titanium intake valves and connecting rods and contains a high-performance dry-sump oil system, which distributes pressurized oil to protect vital components under high-g driving conditions.Helping Z06 perform even better is the fact that it is the lightest Corvette at 3,175 lbs., thanks to a litany of racing-derived components. The MSRP for 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 starts at $74,305.
