Press Release – Apr 28, 2011 – Chevrolet is proud to announce the exclusive 2012 Chevrolet Honor & Valor Limited Edition Camaro SS – a vehicle whose rare combination of power, performance and precision exemplifies the indomitable spirit of our troops, and is ready for action as America’s 21st century sports car.

General Motors released in 2012 Chevrolet Sport Cars Camaro SS Honor and Valor Edition for the armed forces of the United States, to show their appreciation for the American troops. In recognition of Chevrolet’s 100th birthday, only 99 units of the “Honor & Valor” Limited Edition Camaro SS will be built and are only available to eligible members* of the military (the first unit will be auctioned with net proceeds going to Cell Phones for Soldiers). Orders are now being accepted and will be prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis.

This model is basically a collection of 2012 Camaro SS, which comes with special accents such as a painted body kit, white side stripes, premium floor mats, XM Satellite Radio, black leather seats, a so-called special “honor” badge, a grille insert and surround similar and in addition to the rumbling, American-as-it-can-get 6.2-liter V-8 with a choice of manual or automatic transmission. (We say get the manual, as it hooks to the 426-hp LS3 in place of automatic models’ 400-horse L99.) The 2012 Chevrolet Sport Cars Camaro SS Honor and Valor Edition will officially debut at Indy 500 military personnel parade on May 28.

2012 Chevrolet Sport Cars Camaro SS Honor and Valor Edition will only be available in red, white, and –er, black. Production is limited to 99 examples, and much like Harley-Davidson’s police and firefighter edition models, cars will only be made available to buyers actively serving in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard. Chevrolet Sport Cars is celebrating National Military Appreciation Month by expanding its GM Military Discount  to military spouses and retirees; offering an exclusive “Honor” badge to anyone who buys an eligible Chevrolet through the program. For each eligible vehicle sold, GM will donate $100 to Cell Phones for Soldiers.

The GM Military Discount program is extended to spouses of Active and Reserve members, as well as retirees, of the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, National Guard and Coast Guard. The discount is available on most Chevrolet, Buick and GMC models with discounts typically ranging between $500 and $4,000 off MSRP.

Production of this special 2012 Chevrolet Sport Cars Camaro SS Honor and Valor Edition military model begins in July, and deliveries are scheduled for August.

Chevrolet is supplying the Indianapolis 500 with a 2010 Camaro SS as a pace car. Unveiled ahead of the 2010 event which is taking place at the Brickyard on May 30, the Inferno Orange metallic muscle car will mark the sixth time a Camaro has paced the 100 year-old 500 since its debut in 1967. Officials from Chevrolet and Indianapolis Motor Speedway unveiled the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS Indianapolis 500 pace car at the Speedway's Hall of Fame Museum.

"We've enjoyed a great partnership with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway throughout the years," said Jim Campbell, General Manager, Chevrolet, "and are proud to once again have the privilege of pacing the Indianapolis 500 in a Camaro."

The 2010 Chevy Camaro Indianapolis 500 pace car is a 21st century sports car that looks to the future with a nod to both the car's and the race's heritage. The first year for Camaro to pace the Indianapolis 500 was in 1967, the year the Camaro made its debut. Camaro has since paced the race in 1969, 1982, 1993 and 2009.

This year's pace car features an Inferno Orange Metallic paint scheme with White Diamond rally stripes that travel from the front to the rear over the top of the body, as well as extending to the instrument panel. The design is a modern interpretation of the original rally stripe that debuted on the 1969 Indianapolis 500 Pace Car.

"Chevrolet has done it again with the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS Pace Car, it is simply beautiful," said Jeff Belskus, president and CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation. "The car's tribute to '500' history and its sports car feel will be a big hit with our fans, and it will look great leading the Indianapolis 500 field on Race Day."

The 2010 pace car is equipped with a stock 400 hp 6.2L V-8, an RS appearance package and leather interior with Inferno Orange interior accents. The pace car also features unique design cues that further enhance the Camaro's head-turning design. Features unique to the pace car include:

- 2010 Indianapolis 500 event logo painted on doors and embroidered on driver and passenger headrests

- 2010 Indianapolis 500 event logo badges on front fenders

- All-new front grille insert that Chevrolet plans to offer as a future Camaro accessory

- Amber lens tail lamps

- Complete safety strobe light system with custom interior light bar in the rear window (no rooftop light bar)

- All-new GM Accessory floor mats with red and orange accent stitching

 2010 Chevrolet Sports Car Camaro SS Indianapolis 500 Pace Car

Starting at approximately $23,000, and offering an EPA-estimated 29 highway mpg on the V-6-powered car, the all-new Camaro is a budget-friendly sports car that doesn't sacrifice on performance. Despite the recent economic challenges, the Camaro has overtaken its closest competitor to lead the regular sports car segment in sales for the last six months. Chevrolet sold more than 6,000 Camaros in each of these months.

Established in 1909, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has long prevailed as an icon of motorsports excellence. The 2009 racing season marked the 100th anniversary of the Speedway and the start of its Centennial Era, which continues with the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race in 2011.

Camaros seem to be a favorite inspiration at the SEMA Show. Already, we’ve made a note to view the Camaro variations from Hurst, Lingenfelter, and Yenko.
Another one comes from Hendrick Motorsports, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Hendrick will be rolling out 25 of these fully loaded SS Camaros, with each having a price tag of $76,181.
Hendrick Motorsports, a NASCAR racing organization has commissioned Callaway Cars to develop and build a limited edition run of Hendrick Motorsports 25th Anniversary 2010 Camaro SS vehicles. The 25th anniversary Camaro will include a host of engine, body and interior modifications.
Under the hood power hasbeen increased from 426 to 582 by way of Callaway's Eaton TVS series supercharger, high-flow air filtration system, low-restriction exhaust system and engine tune.
